dsmPhotoCompany Earns Prestigious Awards

Des Moines, IA — February 7th marked a big accomplishment for a downtown Des Moines studio. dsmPhotoCompany earned a pair of prestigious awards at the Professional Photographers of Iowa (PPI) formal banquet. Brian Stevens and Jeremy Orr, co-owners of dsmPhotoCompany, Inc., were each recognized as a “Top 10 Iowa Photographer” based on their print submissions in this year’s competition. The awards were determined by a combined score on 4 artistic prints each – a total of approximately 600 prints were entered by photographers across the state.

“We couldn’t be happier to receive this honor” stated Brian. “We hoped that one of us would finish near the top, the fact we both did just makes it twice as good.” He added, “It was great our beauty team was there to share and enjoy the special moment”. Erin Stevens and Megan Orr serve as the beauty stylists for the studio and their work led to award-winning submissions.

Jeremy couldn’t believe he and Brian’s names continued to be called throughout the night. “I’m still in shock. I knew our portrait art was of a high quality and we could compete with some of the best, I just wasn’t expecting us to be received so well”. Jeremy was mentored by Brian and through that their partnership began. “I owe a lot to Brian for guiding me in my growth process as a professional photographer”.

In addition to the top 10 Iowa photographer awards, Brian and Jeremy had 3 prints that received scores of 80 or more to earn a merit. Less than 20% of all submissions merited. Below is a list of some of the additional awards earned by the studio:

Indoor Portrait of a Woman – 3rd Place
Mr. Photogenic – 1st and 2nd Place
Ms. Photogenic – 2nd Place
Lil Mr. Photogenic – 2nd Place
Finished Product – 3rd Place

Brian and Jeremy were also awarded a handful of honorable mentions. “It was a great night for our studio and I couldn’t be more proud of our team”. Jeremy added “We are very fortunate our job includes working with many people and making their day brighter by showing them they are beautiful”.

“We have a lot of people to thank and it could take forever to thank everyone” Brian said. “But in addition to thanking our wives and families that sacrifice time away from us, we could not have done this without fantastic clients”.
